That overwhelming confidence is fueling your desire to tackle the final mode in the game – which happens to be the Extreme mode.
What you did not know is that Granny’s Extreme difficulty mode will drain all that confidence just like that. Before we jump into the specifics, there are elements in Extreme that are not present in other modes. One of which is that most areas in Extreme have creaking floors.
Another is that the secret tunnel is now blocked with iron bars. The most important thing or change, however, is that Granny now moves faster than your character. These changes, especially the one about Granny’s movement. With that out of the way, it’s time to proceed to the tips and strategies you need to know to survive the game’s extreme mode.
Tip 1. The Screwdriver Safe
Granny’s enhanced speed makes getting through the screwdriver safe process a struggle for most players in the game. This is because knocking Granny out before attempting to open the safe poses a lot of risk for your character to get knocked out. One highly recommended strategy is to knock down the large lamp next to the door in bedroom number 1. The light will serve as your warning signal that Granny is coming. Once you hear the lamp fall, head straight for cover in the meat room or the secret area middle floor. Get out from hiding as soon as you hear the footsteps fade out.
Tip 2. The Basement
One of the mechanics that makes Granny exciting is interacting with most objects in the environment. With that in mind, there is a strategy that will help you get out of the basement without Granny noticing. The first thing you need to do is knock the wooden pole behind the stairs to the right. This will encourage Granny to investigate by going down the stairs in the direction of the noise. As she descends the stairs, you need to make your way to the left or opposite the noise’s origin. This will allow you to depart the basement without her knowledge.
Tip 3. Avoiding Creaking Floors
With the expanded area of creaking floors, getting through the bedroom 1 area will seem impossible. Nevertheless, there is a strategy that will help you cross this area safely. First, you need to come from the walk-in closet, stick to the right wall, hide under the bed and get out immediately. Getting out from under the bed will allow you to spawn in front of the door avoiding the creak in the process.
Do take note that this method may sometimes fail as there are times that the creak is situated under the bed. Another thing to remember is that the special room now has no creak and did not expand the ones in the dining room. This will allow you to execute the timed window jump just like the other modes.
Tip 4. Sending Granny to the Sewers
Time is one of the most important elements in the game, especially in Extreme mode. Due to Granny’s enhanced speed, searching for items is now a struggle. With that said, there is a way to buy more time when you are in the backyard. You first need to throw an irrelevant item into the trapdoor that leads to the sewer.
Doing this will encourage Granny to investigate the area and proceed to the sewers, which will buy you more time to look for clues and items in the kitchen, basement, and the main room area. While executing this strategy, you must avoid going to the study and the living room due to the floor creaks. Note that you can only do this trick once, so better make the most out of it.
Tip 5. The Playhouse
Making noise in extreme mode is one of the biggest mistakes that you can make. This is because the noise will send Granny running to the source. Since you cannot outrun Granny, your main focus is to distract and deceive her away from your character. Also, there is a strategy that you can use to attract Granny while you are in the vicinity of the playhouse.
This strategy requires you to run to the front door and throw the Playhouse key towards it. Granny will then investigate the noise without going outside. However, you must make sure that you go towards the guillotine to avoid being seen by Granny.
